Can't find something in the series? Hajime no Ippo chapter summaries and timeline
Ever tried to find a specific event in Hajime no Ippo and fail spectacularly? In a series of approximately 1000 chapters, that is not unusual, especially if the specific event has no relation to any other events. My desire to find a comedy chapter in which the various Kamogawa boxers discuss a variation of the frog punch combined with their various special moves (Dragon Fish Blow and Dempsey Roll) led me on a merry chase.
I vowed to never not be able to find a certain event, so I decided to summarize every single non-fight chapter in the series. The summaries aren't perfect and cannot be perfect without significantly more detail per summary, but they are helpful if you have an idea of for what you are looking.
Key:
Bold- Fights or important spars
Italics- Training camps, or flashbacks
Terms used:
Background- Background is the characterization of the opponent. Depending on the opponent, it can include: personal history, motivations, training, strategies, or discussion of past opponents.
Pre-fight- Basically everything after a fighter shows up at the venue before the fight starts. e.g. in the waiting rooms, warm ups, and entering ring.
Post-fight- Generally the immediate aftermath in the ring, the fighters leaving, and immediate commentary.
Note on volumes: I based the chapter numbering based on what I found on the internet. If I made any mistakes, make note of them and I'll fix it.
Romanization note: I use Volg rather than Vorg.

Timeline citations/written timeline:
For Year 1, you essentially have to use the relative time markers to work your way back from the first definite marker (Ippo's pro debut). The numbers are confirmed with a year 2 June reference by Kimura. (if it is June and Ippo has been at the gym for just over a year, he had to have joined in May the previous year)
1990:
February (I'm basing it on Ippo winning the All-Japan Rookie King in February): Takamura wins All-Japan Rookie King
March-April (there is enough leeway for it to be either, but Ippo having a copy of Boxing fan with Takamura winning the All-Japan Rookie King leads me to believe it is March): Series starts
